Origins

Dermafilia, love for the skin. Dermafilia started out as a Mexico City artist collective in 1994, allowing a group of young people to venture into the art of tattoo and piercing. In 1994 Wilson Posada, began to work his way up at the Dermafilia Collective. He started piercing and tattooing in Culhuacán, a neighborhood where he is from, as well as street markets like “el chopo” in Mex DF. Along the way, Posada’s uncle taught him about advanced jewelry, and he started to distribute the popular pieces. In 2007 Posada decided it was time to extend Dermafilia to San Francisco. He opened a store in The Mission district. The journey continues with body art, a gallery and murals, enriching the community with art every one can enjoy.
